A real alternative to the NBN… And, it’s bloody fast!

Internet is now widely regarded as the fourth utility, yet complaints about Internet services have hit a record high, up 41% year on year according to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman’s Annual Report 2016-2017. The annual report states that for the first time, Internet services were the largest source of complaints, with 87.8% coming from residential consumers. A lack of reliable speed can present a number of issues for property developers, owners’ corporations and building or facilities managers, from irate residents to poor CCTV performance. We are an alternative to the NBN and we have built our own unique network to offer a [...]

Government Slams Higher Speed Network Recommendation

Recently, the Federal Government dismissed a Parliamentary recommendation calling for the NBN to use fibre-to-the-curb (FttC) or fibre-to-the-premises (FttP) technology for the remainder of its rollout, saying that they’ll stick with the current Multi Technology Mix (MTM) approach. You may be asking… ‘what does that mean?’ and moreover ‘what does that mean to me?’ Well to put it simply, it means that the NBN will continue to install relatively outdated technology that delivers slower and less reliable speeds. For a number of very technical reasons, new NBN customers will share speeds, which may struggle during peak hours – generally in the [...]

Is the NBN fit for Australian businesses?

Australian business owners know the importance of a stable Internet connection. The promise of the National Broadband Network (NBN) rolling out across the country suggested this need would be met with secure, fast and reliable connectivity. However, every week it’s another headline about the NBN and it generally isn’t particularly reassuring news. As businesses often have Internet usage requirements greater than home users, particularly bandwidth and reliability, they may find that researching options beyond the NBN for their technological and cloud-based application needs, time well spent.   Did you know that your business has an alternative to the NBN? At Spirit [...]

Do I Have To Switch To The NBN?

I need the Internet. Do I have to switch to the NBN? There’s a lot of interest in the NBN currently, and with good reason. Australia has put up with slow Internet for far too long, and with an increasing desire to access a genuinely fast service, especially for streaming TV and music at home, or downloading and uploading large files at work, this has become a priority for many people. But the NBN is most definitely NOT the only way to access the Internet. In fact, Spirit has just been independently rated as Melbourne’s fastest Internet Provider[1]. So how has [...]

We’re Serious About Internet

Spirit Managing Director, Geoff Neate, spoke to Telecom Times last week about who Spirit is; and who we want to be in the High Speed Internet market. Geoff committed that we're not here to take on the NBN. We're a genuine alternative to the NBN, and we work to deliver the amazing speeds Australia deserves. "Where we go, where we enter into a particular market, be it a building or geographic expansion, we’re going to go in with a strategy that allows us to win. We win by providing better Internet - Serious Internet." What It Means To Have "Serious Internet" The [...]
